Whoosh! Bumps to Babes offers the progression from pregnant mums-to-be to your baby’s first time in water which leads onto the ASA Ducklings awards. This then leads onto the National Plan which is the Swim School side of Whoosh!
This part of bumps to babes are sessions for expecting mums to relax and exercise in water, this is great to relieve tension that comes with being pregnant. Being in water while pregnant can really take the weight off of your whole body. This is also a great way for you to meet other expecting mums and make friendships for the future and even come back together for the new babies’ first time in water.
NB – These sessions will not be available until late 2010.
This is where your babe will experience the swimming world for the first time. To make this fun and enjoyable for both you and your baby we use ASA ‘Swim a Song.’ These Swim a Song stages are perfect for your baby to start their socialising skills and also a great place for mums and dads to meet other mums and dads and form friendships for the future. Swim a Song leads onto the ASA duckling awards.
Now your baby is confident in water its time to start the ASA Duckling Awards. This is where your child will build more confidence and skills, which will progress them to gain independence in the water. These Ducklings Awards prepare your child for the ASA National Plan stages of swimming the swim school side of Whoosh!
All lessons will be personally taught by Lisa Chapman, an ASA qualified teacher with over 20 years swimming experience. Lisa has swum at all levels, ranging from Club to Olympic.
Our friendly and fun classes will never have more than 6 mums and babes at a time, enabling maximum personal attention for both mum and babes. Our classes also always have exclusive use of the pool.
Lisa, is an RLSS qualified lifeguard and CRB checked, ensuring you and your babe are in a completely safe environment to learn and give you complete peace of mind.
We aim for you and your babe to have lots of fun and enjoy yourselves but at the same time benefit from building confidence in water. We include games and songs to promote learning in a more interesting way which also promotes babies socialising with each other.
Lisa has been working with children ranging from newborns to pre-school for the last 3 years and has a baby of her own, so knows how patience and understanding is important in the learning process. Lisa thrives on being informative on the teaching method and if there is anything that you don’t understand she will explain fully.
Our classes are 30 minutes long with 15 minutes at the end of the lesson for mums to have a chat with each other and Lisa. This also allows you to take your time and not feel rushed.
Both the Swim a Song and Ducklings Award Levels are backed up by certificates and badges which can be purchased when your babe passes their current stage.
