Why Whoosh? You may be asking why my school is called Whoosh Swim School? The name was inspired by my coach Ian Armiger when I was training for the Olympics. It was his trademark: before a race or a training session, after a competition or a text message and an email he would always say “Whoosh!” It was his motivational way of saying “Well done, you did great!” Why did I set up Whoosh! Adult Swim Lessons? Having been involved in swimming for over 20 years, I’ve seen first hand some of the fantastic ways in which swimming can improve the lives of adults and children alike. By establishing Whoosh! I feel as though I now have the opportunity to pass on these experiences to others. Why should you come to Whoosh! Adult Swim? Not only is swimming a really fun hobby and a great way to relax, it also has the benefit of being extremely good for you. One of the key reasons why I set up Whoosh! is to try and help tackle the growing obesity problem and promote a healthier lifestyle that’s fun as well as healthy. Swimming is scientifically proven to be one of the best ways to improve your fitness, stamina and lose weight, and crucially it is a low impact form of exercise. This means that it places less stress on the bones and joints, whilst still giving maximum health benefits. On top of teaching water safety, Being part of my classes is a great way to make friends and meet others with similar interests and will give you a great sense of achievement when you learn to swim if you are a complete beginner or if you hit the time or perfect your stroke you had been working towards if you are an established swimmer. Lastly, a personal reason I decided to start up Whoosh! is the opportunity for me to pass on my many years of experience in competitive swimming and the knowledge I’ve gained to other people, it gives me great satisfaction and reward passing this on and seeing people learn and/or improve a life skill that will stay with them forever.
